October Update

2015 is turning out to be our busiest year so far and our head count has grown to 140 with the current recruitment drive still in full swing!

We now occupy 3 separate buildings at Broadford Park and this month we completed a spectacular refurbishment at Wharfside Suites to include 2 customer offices alongside the usual GMD 1950’s diner, including neon signs etc! Our creative team have done an excellent job of making sure our brand values have been carried over to the new building and I enjoyed digging through more than 100 of my old racing posters from the 70’s and 80’s from which they will make a selection to add some colour to the building. We have recently acquired another large building at Dunsfold Park for vehicle build and vehicle development and another small building at Shalford bringing our total to 6 buildings - Our logistics and administration team has its work cut out just trying to keep up!

Our teams are currently working on many different iStream® vehicles across a very broad spectrum of types and models so every day is a bit of an adventure here at the moment.

The management team are currently planning a new styling studio in our Northfield building which should come on line next year.

Today is the Press Day at the Tokyo Motor Show and both Yamaha and GMD have exciting announcements, which will be made from the Yamaha stand.Yamaha are showing a rear-mid-engined sports car which we have been developing with them. The car is on an iStream® chassis with a body styled by the Yamaha styling team. As some of you will know, this type of small pure sports car is something very close to my heart - I have long since talked about an affordable sports car with an everyday useable package and a vehicle size suitable for European roads...

The other big news is that the chassis for this car is part of an exciting development from GMD. Today we launch iStream® Carbon. Working with our partners Toray, ELG and Innovate UK, we have been developing this system for the past 2 years. iStream® Carbon is the world’s first affordable high volume carbon fibre manufacturing process and it will sit alongside our existing iStream® process and enable us to access more market segments.

We are currently working on 8 different iStream® vehicles, we are waiting to see who will be first past the post with a production product.
